Johan: where do you have your hal from? If you built it yourself you
might want to ensure that you use the right value for the parameter
--with-stab-file in configure.in. If you got it from a package, what
is the output from
strings /usr/sbin/hald |grep stab
On my system it gives (among other things) /var/lib/pcmcia/stab and
I do have the the right file there.
