I cant find the bug in bugzilla. 
And i do fully agree with Alexander. I dont like this one way operation.
Its not very easy to undo and causes frustration to users. There should
be a dialog reachable in the panel-menu like
"Desktop"->"Settings"->"Desktop-Elements" where you can configure what
desktop items you want to see.

@Christian, i use evolution and it does not show your emails correctly, any
clue whats wrong? - i see your attachments and signature in pure text
