Incorrect icons when running Nautilus through VNC or X11 forwarding

I’m trying to run nautilus remotely from a different machine by either using VNC or X11 forwarding. In both cases, nautilus will run, but the icons for files and folders are defaulting to a generic icon. Here’s a screenshot of what I’m referring to:

Does anyone know what is causing this and what I could do to fix it?
