Nautilus and ftp

I am am using 2.6 and think it's great.
I have a question, when I try to connect to an ftp site that requires a
username/password I cannot get it to work.
I am using ftp://user:password ftpserver com, should this work within
nautilus "open location"?
If I try without the password ie. ftp://user ftpserver com I do not get
prompted for a password at all either.

Any help is appreciated.
