nautilus and icons

Hello everybody
i've been using nautilus very much and from it's first version...In my
opinion the method nautilus uses to handle icons (on desktop and also on
directories on the filemanager window) is irritating...
I would prefer a SOLID grid system that prevents icons from overlap one
another. Another thing: the actual grid size is too big! I think the
grid system they use in ms windows is very very very nice and usefull,
in other words it is more elegant than the system nautilus uses...
what do you think? Anyone has a patch? :)
