Its just a normal app, so gdb works on it.
Changing the line:
#undef DEBUG_CDRECORD
in cd-recorder.c into
#define DEBUG_CDRECORD
might help you if you have a problem with cdrecord interaction.

It is not threaded, but it does spawn other processes (mkisofs and
cdrecord).
