disk mounter

I don't think the problem is disk mounter, i think that it is nautilus.
Now, I have been clicking on the background to mount the disk.  Again, I
click the infernal icon that pops up on the background and I navigate the
disk with nautilus.  When I want to unmount, I close my nautilus window
and use the icon on the background to eject.  I keep getting the complaint
that 'device is busy'.

So, I did a fuser -av /mnt/cdrom and there was a program called 'fam'
accessing the drive.

how do I solve this?
