Well considering that no usability specialists or lead nautilus
developers have chimed in on this idea (Actually dave camp just
mentioned that this won't be done in the 2.6 timeframe)
I don't think its really been
"advised against". But enough third party people have discouraged the
work to give this impression. Of course testing the waters to see if a
contribution is really valuable to the project is a great idea. I just
don't know why people not directly related to nautilus are telling a
potential developer to not bother because they don't like his idea.
