I don't totally agree:
- most of the time, viewers are less bloated and, thus, are faster to
start. Just compare GIMP with EOG.
- most of the time, viewer have functions that editors don't have and
that you'd miss if you opened your document in an editor. For example,
gthumb has a slide-show and GIMP doesn't.
