[Nautilus-list] nautilus and thumbnails

Is it just me, or is thumbnailing currently broken?
I get some images thumbnailed with the majority of them not.  The ones
that are, are done so consistently however, and I can't find where the
thumbnails for them are stored, I've deleted every .thumbnails directory
to no avail... it's puzzling
