[Nautilus-list] desktop background setting

I was going to have a look at getting nautilus to actually change the
background when the setting changes, but as this is the first time I've
actually looked into the code, I've no idea where to start; I noticed
that all of the background code seems to be in libbbackground, but this
library is never used inside of nautilus . . .
