Using <Control> to toggle 'Open each file/folder in separate window'

Hi!

How hard would it be the code to make Nautilus toggle on the fly,
through the use of the Control key, the setting of the preference "Open
each file or folder in a separate window"?

I normally open each file/folder in a separate window but in some cases
I'd like to be able to open a folder reusing the same window I already
had open.

Windows Explorer and the MacOS Finder have had this feature for ages,
and it'd be great to have it in Nautilus too (but not because they
have but because I really think it is useful :)
