Looks great. I'd do two things different.
1) I'd put the relative emblems to exclude logic inside
fm_directory_view_get_emblem_names_to_exclude rather than making each caller
call a second method.
2) I'd call the new method "emblems_changed" rather than
"relative_emblems_changed".
Would you consider those changes?
