For the "desktop" module, these are the directories used:
start-here: /etc/X11/starthere
server-settings: /etc/X11/serverconfig
system-settings: /etc/X11/sysconfig
favorites: ~/.gnome/apps
programs: /etc/X11/applnk + /usr/share/gnome/apps
preferences: /usr/share/control-center
In general there is often no correspondence between URIs and
filesystem locations.
