whith GMC I had apps like xpenguin or xsnow running on my desktop.
Now, with nautilus they don't run anymore
Now, actually they are running but one can't see anything - as I
understand it probably because nautilus desktop hides the root window?
Isn't there any way to have nautilus place icons on the desktop but keep
the root window (and those cute penguins!!!) visible??

We had this discussion months ago. I was very vocal complaining about
this "feature" but the Eazel folks wanted to make it look pretty.
Maybe now would be a good time to bring this up again. Personally, I
see nothing wrong with doing it the way GMC has always done it. Matter
of fact, I went back to GMC just for this reason. (and it's a hell of a
lot faster)
