I've seen this page before but haven't gone all the way to the bottom to see
the horror that is Media Player 8. OMG! Haven't they realized yet that apps
that completely break the L&F of the rest of the environment suck ass? (IMHO).
Granted, it does *kinda* match the rest of the GUI as seen as shown (except
for things like window borders and consistancy of course).

Mini-rant about media player 7:
A while back I aquired a copy of winME and decided what the hell, and
installed it fresh on a system I was setting up as a dual boot box (windows
for games). It installed nicely and except for having to unset all the "click
here if you think you *really* want to see whats on your c:\windows folder"
boxes and change the control panel mode from "dimwit" to "normal", everything
was fine. MP7 was of course the default. Now, on one hand, MP6 is lacking
some features... the playlist being the only one I can think of off the top of
my head right now. MP7 sucks worse than anything I've ever seen before in my
life. Suddenly some avis and mpegs simply wouldn't play, and gave informative
errors such as "error" and such. Oh, and useful features like being able to
drag the window size to any dimensions while keeping the correct aspect were
thrown out in favor of 50%, 100%, 200%, 300% and fullscreen. Hit space to
pause? NEVER! You have to find the big ugly "||" button to pause. Speed
improvements? Nah, screw that, lets make it a whole lot slower so that movies
that run fine on MP6 a choppy on MP7 (k7-850/384ram). Oh, and that whole thing
where you have to reboot when removing it because it's so tied to the OS? That
sucked as well.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
