i'm actively hacking a new file selector for gnome 2 (although currently
it using gnome 1.4). it's in CVS modulename file-sel. it's not all
that far yet, but it's getting there. the UI is neither finalized nor
mostly working, but there are some screenshots at:

please don't start a big thread about this here, though, since i get
too much mail as it is.
