[Nautilus-list] GConf problem

I just downloaded and compiled nautilus from anonymous CVS (last
ChangeLog was 2001-01-25) and upon launching nautilus, I get the
following message on the console:

** WARNING **: GConf error:
  Failed:
 Failed:
 Failed to create file `/home/aswang/.gconf/apps/nautilus/visibility/608.173conf.xml': Permission denied

Nautilus fails to launch at all.  Any advice? I got gconf from
anonymous CVS too (gconf-1-0 branch).
