Jonas,

This is because your prefix isn't set up correctly.

Lets say you are installing Nautilus into /gnome, before you started
compiling, you would type,

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/gnome/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PATH=/gnome/bin:$PATH
