Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I also discovered that gtcd
(the Gnome CD player) is also displaying the same
behaviour, i.e. processes start but the app's window
never displays. I ran stract on both and it generates
over 150 KB for each run, so too long to look through
if I don't know what I'm looking for. I did a grep on
"err" and found they both reported very similar
errors. Here's the section from strace output for
gtcd. Do you think this has anything to do with the
problems I'm seeing? If so, how to fix this. If not,
any further guidance?
