The goal for it was to separate as much as possible of the utilities used
inside Nautilus that might be generally useful with two goals in mind:

    1) Allowing pieces of Nautilus to be divided into separate packages.
Like the nautilus-mozilla I'm creating now and the old trilobite package
which had many Eazel-specific nautilus-related things in it.
    2) Clarifying which pieces of the library are candidates that could be
rolled into platform libraries.

We're not really trying to do:

    3) Getting stable enough to be used by some other applications.

This is one of the main reasons that gal and eel remain separate. That way
gal is "good enough for gnumeric and evolution" and eel is "good enough for
nautilus". But neither one has to be as stable as a platform library would
be.

In the long run it would be fine for the mission of eel to change.
