Hi, I'm, curious if nautilus has considered doing a complete backup, i.e. a
diff between a default installation and the actual installation, but that
only requires the downloading of the packages which the local user does not
have on CD.
Thus, in a disaster, the user would pop in a floppy that has the minimal
information to contact Eazel, and provide appropriate information such as a
user name and password. Eazel then would request CDs that the user has
locally, and install software from them. Eazel would then restore the other
required data and packages from Eazel.
For users like myself, which have extremely slow dialup connections, this
would be far less time consuming than attempting to restore the system from
a complete backup to Eazel. Also, this would require far smaller server
storage for Eazel than a complete backup would.
ttyl,
Tom M.
