I cannot reproduce this behaviour on RHL 9 with mc-4.6.0. Closing
WORKSFORME.

If you can still reproduce this problem please reopen this bug and provide
more information. In that case please also verify that the issue still exists
in MC_4_6_1_PRE and/or HEAD and check your distro for odd patches.
