The problem is that file -z does not behave correctly with bzip2 files.
If it would we could use file -z everywhere and work with types in most
places instead of with regexs.
So even though this is a hack we should feature it if it is correct (I
haven't tested it yet), until file is fixed and we can come up with a
more comprehensive solution.
