I built with ncurses, applied the eol mark patch, but I do not see
anything odd when following your instructions (go to end on line longer
than screen and press ctrl-L).
I do have UTF-8 patches applied, but I don't think that matters. Don't
see any difference no matter the state of "fake half tabs". Could it be
this is an issue with ncurses? Or is the example bad?
