Linux /proc files displayed as empty

Hi,

Under certain circumstances, /proc/* files are displayed as empty.
To reproduce in MC 4.6.1-pre1:

  1. navigate to /proc/ on a panel
  2. position the file cursor on one of the files, say "devices"
  3. press F3, then F4 -- the internal viewer switches to hex
  4. press F3 to leave the viewer and to return to the panel
  5. press F3 on "devices" again

For me (kernel-2.4.22), the file is now displayed as empty (when the
default viewer mode is hex).
