Thank you for finding this problem!  I've applied your patch because it's
obviously right and doesn't break anything for me.

As you probably know, testing is more than half of the work when it comes
to bugs like this one.  I would appreciate if you wrote if there are any
public FTP servers that exhibit this problem and how to see if the problem
exists (i.e. what goes wrong).

It's also helpful to know in case if somebody reports this problem.
