There's a vector copy of the logo on this page
(http://live.gnome.org/DraftLogoGuidelines) that includes the "GNOME"
text rendered as vector shapes, so the font isn't needed to display the
logo.
Rendering *other* text in that font is another issue though, you'd need
the font for that.
