I'm not sure to whom you going to distribute the presspackage and
how. If it should be a usual press release, you may like to use the
scheme available at a number of press release sites? For example, 
like those:

http://www.gnome.org/press/releases/

Following the scheme, you would do something like

[Headline]

[Sub-Headline]

[Place -- Date -- Short description of text]

[Basic text (single column - eventually a few headers - less than two 
	pages - each paragraph less than 6 lines - white line between
	paragraphs)]

[Important adresses (for screenshots)]

[About the GIMP]

(eventually if mentioned above [About GNOME] and/or [About GNU])


Note that this is just a suggestion! I might have misunderstand your
goals. Maybe there is also a guideline about press releases that I'm
not aware of.
