Do you mean gnome_foo_construct() ?

[ In general, when designing objects, you should try to design
  them so that there are _no_ mandatory constructor argumetns. But when 
  there are mandatory arguments the name that the function they
  go into is construct() - like gtk_clist_construct() ]
