One of the problems that we've already seen is that the developers don't
even know about what they're talking.
I hope this argument boils down to a matter of disposition. I'm disposed
to think that using end-user terms will generally be impractical or
impossible. This is because I've already seen damage of the expected sort
on irc and websites and also in code.

I think it is important to call application programs applications and
other types of programs by their type; and when one is speaking of
programs of more than one type or of programs qua programs, to call
them programs.
As for "access key" vs. "mnemonic", see my reply to myself first.
And now! The good news!
I just did `grep -i mnemonic /usr/include/gtk-1.2/gtk/*` and it returned
nothing. This flagrant violation of good sense is a 'feature' of gtk2
and I hope that with pressure from the appropriate quarters this will
be corrected. API freezes be damned, this must be fixed.
Cheers,
