Guppi's gnumeric support is independent of this.  I mention it only because
it is another program that breaks if gnome-print isn't properly installed.

Are you using a gnumeric you got with XG1.4?  And do you have the XG1.4
libgnomeprint-data package installed?

I'm still thinking that this is being caused by a bad gnome-print set-up.
Possibly a mix of old and new gnome-print files on the same system...
