[guppi-list] netCDF and HDF5

hi all,
i did some reading and thinking about netCDF and HDF5. the conclusions i
came to are that implementing either of them would require new bits of
gui which is fair enough i guess since i always wanted to try that out. i
must say that i am more interested in netCDF at the moment at
least. although gui could be shared between the two file formats since the
functionality (at least for gridded data sets) is essentially
equivalent. i still intent to get started with that some time soon. i am
however incredibly busy with my phd (large inherited models are a real
pain).
i keep you updated as soon as i have something more concrete
