I had gst-plugins-good/bad/ugly loaded, but maybe I need gst-ffmpeg, although for jpeg images I would doubt it.

In addition to rygel, I tried with a western digital networked hd, which says it streams audio, video and images, but I'm not sure if it includes a video/image renderer (it must include an audio renderer as that works).

Thanks for the pointers - I did see an error message from gupnp-av-cp about "missing uri" or similar. I'll play around some more and report back with an errors messages I get if things still don't work.
