Hm, I'd add an option to not load backends by default. That's possible
and would be something easy to do.
gtranslator is primarily PO file editor. Backends should be loaded on
demand, i.e. only when you try to open sgml file.
Eh, that's a bit overkill IMHO. The memory used by backends loading is
quite small. A more important speedup will be done when learn buffer
loading get's threaded (that takes long time and not the backends
loading itself).
But if you all mind these 2, 3 seconds on the startup I'd think about
delay loading of modules to be JIUC (Just-In-Use-Case).
