You need to find the relevant changes in gtkmm and back-port them to
gtkmm 2.2. You could put a patch online, in bugzilla for instance.

I've not done a complete backport, though, as I've left the glibmm API
unchanged, i.e. changed parameter type only in the call to glib, not in
the declaration of the gtkmm method.
