Gtk::Layout and Gdk::GC

hi,
Have a problem cause I have some Widgets on the Gtk::Layout and next I
want to add some lines between them, so create a Gdk::GC and draw on
that, but it is above the widgets-cannot see them anymore, how to
change the color of gc to transparent or move it back ??
