How to install GTKmm on Linux?

Hi there,
I am using Ubuntu 5.10, and I decided to do a project under GTKmm API.
I downloaded and installed GTKmm without any problem. Then I started
Anjuta and chose GTKmm project as a start. But the generating process
failed due to some incompatible pkg-config. What do I have to do to
have GTKmm successfully running?
