Regarding list_icons: I've now tried this with straight GTK+, and it
doesn't work there either.  The docs suggest that "mimetypes" and "apps"
should both be valid arguments, but neither returns any items.  However,
with the GTK+ version you can pass a NULL string to get all icons
available, and that works.  There doesn't seem to be any way to get a
NULL through the gtkmm wrapper, unless there's some way to get
Glib::ustring::c_str to return NULL.
