Please also mention the contributor (and ideally, the bug number) in the
ChangeLog, though the patch should have contained it's own Changelog entr=

I suppose so, though I worry that it would get out of date, and that it's=
 not
really a good way to _install_ software, though it is a good way to devel=
op the
software.

It should have a link to the jhbuild site:
http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/jhbuild
and it should recommend the gnome-love mailing list as a way to get help.

I agree that this sort of documentation is the sort of thing that can eas=
ily
become outdated, but I would have liked something like this when I first
started contributing to gtkmm and trying out new features with my applica=
tions.
 It doesn't necessarily have to be a part of the tutorial, however.

I agree that it's not a good way to install the software in any sort of
permanent way, but I do think that it's a good way to test out your softw=
are
with upcoming versions of gtkmm that haven't been released or packaged fo=
r your
distribution yet.
