Contributing to documentation, How to get started?

What the one should do to contribute to the
documentation of Gtkmm and Glibmm libraries. I haven't
contributed to any open-source project before so I
don't have a good background about the right way to do
this. I hope someone can point me to some online
document that would help me get started.
