it can be built using the GDK X11 target, and used perfectly with
Apple's X11 server. it is present in DarwinPorts (and probably in Fink
as well).

however, there is no functional (or even barely functional) native port
of GTK to Aqua, which is an immense shame. it would make it possible to
do *really* nice ports of a lot of software between all 3 platforms, ala
Qt. sadly, at least 3 people/groups have tried to implement this, but
all have abandoned their efforts (or appear to have done so).
