You can either use Gtk::ComboBoxEntryText::get_active_text to get the currently selected string from the drop down menu or
Gtk::ComboBoxEntryText::get_entry() to get a
pointer to the Gtk::Entry. Gtk::Entry::get_text()
will return the current string inputted by the user.
