Embedding X Windows

I have an application , say, A which is running in
window W1. There is another application B already
running in a window W2. How can I locate that window
W2 and then embed it in my window W1? I know I have to
use a socket and plug to do the embedding, but how do
I find the window?

Any help/examples/pointers will be appreciated.
