Gdk window background

Hi all,
I'm going thru gdk::window class, and i'm surprised to find out one thing.

Gdk::Window has a function called set_background(const Gdk::Color&).
But there's no corresponding get_function. 

Was it intentional. If so, how do we get the background color of a GdkWindow.
