window handle

Hi!  I'm looking for a function in gtkmm which returns
a widget's handle.  There is this qt application which
I'd like to port to gtkmm.  It uses the handle()
function of
QPaintDevice(http://doc.trolltech.com/3.0/qpaintdevice.html).
 Any ideas to its gtkmm equivalent?  Thanks!
