I guess it's under the LGPL license officially, which would mean that you
can't just copy it into closed-source projects. But it's very such simple
stuff, and it's meant to be used. Nobody will try to stop you from using
the example code as a base for your own project.

If you find another project that makes this clearer, then I'd be happy to
do the same thing for gtkmm.
