No, but the new FileChooser which is being added to GTK 2.4 (and thus
gtkmm 2.4) is designed specifically to accomodate arbitrary preview
widgets, so when gtkmm 2.4 is stable you'll be far better off using that.
I'm afraid I've no personal experience of adding widgets to
FileSelection, so I can't help you there.
