Thanks.

Regarding your radiobutton patch:
-   typedef RadioButtonGroup Group;
 Why is this necessary? What error does the compiler show?

Regarding your demowindow change:
+ #if defined(__SUNPRO_CC) && !defined(_REENTRANT)
+ #define _REENTRANT
Could you please explain this? I can't check this in without some comment.

Please try to create real patches in future. It makes things easier:

> I have tested Studio9 (CC: Sun C++ 5.6 Patch 117550-01 2004/10/12) but it didn't

Could you give us some more details. Where exactly did you see the error, and
what was it? If this is just a libsigc++ error then please file a bug for libsigc++.

The basic problem lies with libglade, not libglademm, so I'm transferring it to
the "libglade" component.

Roger

gtkmm | build | Ver: 2.5

           Summary: Long filenames are not correctly distributed.
           Product: gtkmm
           Version: 2.5
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Normal
         Component: build
        AssignedTo: gtkmm-forge lists sourceforge net
        ReportedBy: roger whinlatter uklinux net

Because GNU automake uses the v7 tar format, there is a maximum pathname length
of 99 characters. Filenames longer than this get the pathname truncated and
placed in the root directory of the tarfile.

Automake 1.9.3 allows one to select a newer tar format. The attached patch
illustrates how to implement this.

Patch to select newer tar format

Note that you will need to depend on Autoconf 2.59, and so AC_PREREQ in
configure.in will also need updating.

When I run that test case, I get the same warning, though not all of the text:

murrayc murrayc_debian:~/tests/egg-c$ ./test
(test:14643): Gdk-WARNING **: GdkWindow 0x3200003 unexpectedly destroyed

The "destroy" signal handler does not seem to make any difference - I tried
commenting it out. Do you see something different?

However, I ran the C++ test case in GNOME 2.9 (FC3), and this is GNOME 2.8
(debian).

The warning will be there no matter whether you're in C or C++. I was talking
to Bastian Nocera and he said that is supposed to happen.

The thing the C example shows is how they actually make the tray icon re-appear.

We need to
a) Stop it being destroyed/disposed. This should happen already.
b) Find some other signal/vfunc that is fired at the same time. Then, we need to
reshow it or reinitialize somehow, but not recreate it.

------- Additional Comments From murrayc murrayc com 2004-12-02 16:17 -------
I think that the "event" that gtk_main_do_event() is responding to is
GTK_EVENT_DESTROY:

1524        case GDK_DESTROY:
1525 /* Unexpected GDK_DESTROY from the outside, ignore for
1526 * child windows, handle like a GDK_DELETE for toplevels
1527           */

Maybe we can handle that. I think that GDK_DELETE is the same as
signal_delete_event. I don't know how we could stop gtk_main_do_event() from
handling GDK_DESTROY, but maybe we do that already for delete_event for normal
containers.
