[gtkmm] Statically compiled GTKmm application

Does any body know whether it is possible or have tried to compile a
statically linked GTKmm application?
i.e. I'm trying to use g++ -static
i.e. just use libgtkmm-2.0.a without libgtkmm-2.0.so
did any body try before?
